Michael was born and educated in London.

After graduating from school, he worked in the Head Office of what was then the Midland Bank Limited, the HSBC bank now.

​

After two years he accepted a position at one of London’s largest Merchant Banks, as an investment manager. 

​

He moved to Australia in 1974.  For a number of years he worked for BNP (Banque Nationale de Paris) in Sydney in treasury and money market and then became an investment manager.

Subsequently Michael left the bank to pursue other interests.
